Basel is a good city to be living in as an LGBT person. It might not be offering as many possibilities as some other european or american metropoles but it definitely is a progressive city with a good deal of open-mindedness. At the very least living in Basel allows you as an LGBT person to live in peace and go about your daily business as any other person would/could.
